SmartICE is looking to hire a Geomatics Coordinator & Trainer. This person plays a critical role in coordinating the training and mentoring of our northern Indigenous coordinators. The focus is to support the SmartICE community coordinators to document and map the Indigenous Knowledge (IK) of the safe and dangerous ice conditions in their communities, and to make weekly IK-based travel safety maps to share with their communities.

SmartICE offers a suite of climate change adaptation tools that integrates Indigenous and local knowledge of ice with advanced data acquisition, remote monitoring and mapping for ice travel safety. Our community-based services provide invaluable, data-driven insights into ice thickness and local ice travel conditions, in near real-time.
